The more time goes by and the more I work with and talk to youth and parents, I'm convinced that there is not enough talking going on. Our youth are torn between how to be a proper Muslim, and how to not look like a geek or terrorist doing it. Media is oversexed and counterproductive to lives that Muslims should be leading.
What I want to know is are you willing to help yourselves and other youth understand that they are not alone in how they feel? Are you willing to help keep your peers on the straight path now so that they may be successful in the future? Are you willing to help me bring parents, guardians, and other adults out of denial and into the realm of truth about the battles that our kids are facing and how some of them are losing because of a lack of support and understanding?

Ahmed Deedat (May Allah Have Mercy Upon Him) - The Nature of Men and Wisdom of Wearing the Veil I took an Al Maghrib class this past weekend about the Fiqh of Food and Clothing. This video was in the materials used and is a response given to the question "Why do women in Islam cover?" I had to find the video online and share it with you. Masha Allah he gave a very entertaining, straight forward, and true response. There is no doubt that to conceal more of your body leads to less sickness of the heart - both your own and the hearts of others. How much you cover is always debated, but for Muslims and non-Muslims, the statistics and everyday disrespect and violence upon women should be enough evidence to show that nakedness is not better in the current day. I am not saying that every woman should wear niqab, nor am I saying that every woman who wears shorts will be violated in the worst way. I AM saying that every girl and woman should consider what attention she is trying to attract, how much respect she would like to receive, and how much she loves herself and what she stands for. After that, let your clothing reflect your choices.
