Jermaine Bernard Cheatham, 45, was arrested Monday on charges of sexual battery on a minor by an adult and attempted false imprisonment of a child under 13, according to an arrest report.
The report said Cheatham was a nurse employed by the victim’s mother, and was responsible for the care of a 9-year-old and her 3-year-old sister, a special needs patient that requires 24-7 care.
According to the report, the 9-year-old girl fell asleep in the living room while watching a movie, and that’s when Cheatham allegedly sexually assaulted her.
The girl’s 11-year-old brother reported hearing “loud thumping sounds” and went into the living room to investigate, the report said. The boy said he found Cheatham standing behind his sister with his genitals exposed and yelled “What are you doing to my sister!” according to the report.
Cheatham grabbed the boy and pulled him into a bedroom, where he told him not to tell anyone and tried to convince him that he didn’t do anything to his sister, the report said. The boy tried to leave the room to alert his mother but Cheatham blocked the door and refused to allow him to leave, according to the report.
Cheatham was ordered held without bond.
