Police in New York City are searching for a panhandler who is accused of raping a 19-year-old woman outside a Manhattan subway station after she refused to give him money.
“I’m homeless, can I have some money?” he begged, according to police sources.
After she said no, he followed her from the Uper East Side station on E. 96th St. and dragged her into a secluded area near E. 95th St. and 3rd Ave. and sexually assaulted her around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.
Anyone who recognizes the fiend is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
Personal Thoughts: Not only do we as women have to weary of the dangers of turning down the romantic gestures of a stranger, we now have to be on guard for panhandlers. Sad.
